Rail project expands Northeastern distribution reach and lowers freight expense
February 24, 2025

Tyler Pipe recently completed a strategic rail project to improve the facility's reach and lower costs.
The project, which launched in 2021, established a new rail system from Tyler Pipe's transload yard in Henderson, Texas, to its distribution center in South Plainfield, New Jersey, which will save on freight, allowing the distribution center to expand its northeastern service area. The New Jersey distribution center received the first rail car of pipe last week.
"This project benefits Tyler Pipe and all of our northeast customers," said Tyler Pipe General Manager Joseph Holzbauer. "We can now rail product directly from the plant to New Jersey, expanding our service area and increasing customer service levels."
The project was accomplished in partnership with Blacklands Railroad, Rusk County Rail District and the Henderson Economic Development Corporation (HEDCO).
"Tyler Pipe's new transload yard in Henderson Industrial Park will facilitate the growth of our industrial rail footprint in east Texas. Henderson is one of the very few locations along the East Texas I-20 corridor that has rail access," HEDCO Executive Director John Clary said.
